BEIRUT (Lebanon) -The FIBA Regional Office-Asia organized Level 2 coaching courses in three developing basketball countries earlier this August.

Two courses were held simultaneously in India and the Maldives from August 1 to 6, while another took place in Thailand from August 8 to 13. These six-day sessions aimed to further develop coaching skills in the region, focusing on advanced presentation and assessment techniques.

Fifteen male and female participants attended the program in Bangalore, made possible through cooperation with the Basketball Federation of India.

"We really learned and earned a lot from this course," said Shambaji Kadam, one of the attendee. "The way we were taught practical and theoretical lessons while understanding each and every one, and keeping everyone in the same page was amazing."

"Much appreciation for all those involved in conducting this Level 2 coaching course." stated another participant in Smithin Setu, on the other hand. "I thoroughly enjoyed this Level 2 coaching course, and found it to be a valuable investment to my coaching career.”

The other course was held in Malé, where 14 male and female coaches took part in the workshop, made possible through cooperation with the Maldives Basketball Association.

"During the Level 2 coaching course, we realized that the small in-game adjustments we once overlooked can make a huge difference," said Aminath Shiura Abdul Bari.

"Though we had a manual, the course took us beyond the pages with insights and strategies that you will not find in any book or website. This was a game-changer course for all of us. “

Another participant, Hussain Zameel said: "The course demonstrated some new techniques and methods to teach the game to youth and senior level players at a higher level."

"Also, it thoroughly touched upon different adjustments we can implement on our training both offensive and defensively. I really enjoyed the comradery of the fellow coaches," he added.

"The course further enhanced my coaching principles focusing on advanced game strategies, player development techniques, management techniques, providing me with the tools to elevate my coaching practice and improve player performance," said Guraish Afrah.

The third coaching course was held in Bangkok, attended by 13 participants, and made possible through cooperation with the Basketball Sport Association of Thailand.

"The Level 2 course is more extensive and advanced," said coach Naruemol Banmoo. "The  instructors are knowledgeable and experienced, and they pass on their knowledge to the trainees very well. This is beneficial for Thai trainers to further develop their athletes.”

Phattaradanai Prasantree, meanwhile, said: “The lecturers are knowledgeable, attentive to every detail of teaching, and added various formats that can be used in real-time situations."

These courses are part of the FIBA Regional Office-Asia's continuous efforts to improve National Federations, including the coaches, who are an integral part of basketball development.
