eFIBA Season 3: Exciting NBA® 2K National Team tournament to tip off in October

MIES (Switzerland) - The highly anticipated third season of eFIBA, FIBA's official NBA 2K tournament, has been unveiled. Sixty-one national team will fight for a regional championship title and a spot in the prestigious eFIBA World Finals.

eFIBA Season 3 will feature NBA 2K25 on the PlayStation 5, with National Federations from across multiple regional areas around the globe all getting the chance to battle it out for a share of the $50,000 prize pool on offer. 

The competition will continue to have over 60 participating National Federations, with the first action set to tip off on October 1, 2024, in the shape of the Regional Pre-Qualifiers and finish on October 14. 

A day later, on October 15, the Regional Qualifiers and Regional Finals will begin and run through until November 7.  Eight teams will eventually qualify for the eFIBA World Finals, which will be played in person in December. 

Below is a breakdown of the National Federation representatives in each regional area:

Africa (17): Algeria, Angola, Benin, Burkina Faso, Cameroon, Côte d’Ivoire, Egypt, Gabon, Guinea, Kenya, Liberia, Madagascar, Morocco, Nigeria, Senegal, Togo, Tunisia.

Asia/Oceania (9): India, Indonesia, Kazakhstan, New Zealand, Macau, Malaysia, Mongolia, Philippines, Thailand.

Europe (22): Albania, Belgium, Croatia, Cyprus, Finland, France, Germany, Great Britain, Greece, Hungary, Israel, Italy, Kosovo, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Poland, Portugal, Serbia, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, Türkiye.

Middle East (4): Lebanon, Oman, Qatar, Saudi Arabia.

North and Central America and Caribbean (5): Cayman Islands, Dominican Republic, Mexico, Puerto Rico, USA.

South America (4): Argentina, Brazil, Uruguay, Venezuela.

This third eFIBA season will build on the success of an amazing second season that captured the imagination of the esports world and highlighted the significance of players proudly representing their national team. 

At DreamHack Winter 2023, the three-day gaming lifestyle festival in Sweden, more than 45,000 people were present, with the eFIBA Season 2 World Finals taking center stage in Jonkoping.

It was USA crowned champions, and by winning the historic live in-person eFIBA World Finals, the Americans took the biggest share of the €50,000 prize pool, with France coming in second, Türkiye third, and the Philippines finishing fourth. Mason 'Johhnyred' Bracken of USA was named MVP, while France's Yacine 'Waarnocks' Jemel took the title of Defensive Player of the Year. Both players were in the All-Star Five.
